Human trafficking is the exploitation of humans for purposes such as sexual and labor servitude.

Beauty industry professionals are in a unique position to spot the signs of suspected human trafficking because they spend time, one on one, with their clients.  Trafficking victims may find it difficult to reach out for help because of emotional manipulation and intensive monitoring.

That’s where you come in.  Hairstylists and barbers may encounter human trafficking victims who might be getting a haircut or makeover to change their appearance and/or to make themselves look older for adults who are victimizing them.

By learning the red flags of human trafficking, individuals can report suspected human trafficking to law enforcement, and have a positive impact on preventing this exploitation.
